It has been a very busy spring for the EBCA, and its president Alan Burke in dealing with the high water levels at the Eastern Beaches (Ashbridges Bay, Woodbine Beach, Balmy Beach). Due to our efforts, we got sandbags for The Beaches Lions Club House, and volunteers from the Lions Club deployed the sandbags on Sunday of the May long weekend. As a result, we help saved the Lions Club House from flooding, and a shout out to Andy Buhot from the Lions Club, for coming down with a sump pump several times, to pump out water pooling around the club house.
We have also arranged with Toronto Water to take over the maintenance and monitoring of the waste water (sewage) pumping station in Ashbridges Bay. As we suspected, Toronto Parks was not properly maintaining the pumping station. After a complete inspection of the pumping station by Toronto Water, all its deficiencies been fixed. In the past when this pumping station has failed, sewage has backed up into the Lions Club house.
